Bathroom Remodeling & Home Renovation in Atlanta, GA
Atlanta's housing stock changes every few blocks and the bathroom work changes with it. In Grant Park, Kirkwood, East Atlanta, West End and Virginia-Highland you are usually working inside a 1910s–1930s bungalow where the only full bath was carved out of a back hallway: forty-odd square feet, a cast-iron tub under a window, 4x4 wall tile to chest height, and a floor that has moved a good deal since it was laid. In Buckhead and parts of Midtown the problem is the opposite — a large 1990s primary bath with a corner garden tub, a separate shower too small to turn around in, and a lot of square footage doing nothing useful.
Both end up in the same place: a layout that uses the whole room, a shower waterproofed as a system rather than as a set of patches, and finishes that look chosen. In the older intown houses that means dealing with what is behind the plaster first — out-of-plumb walls, original framing, floors that have to be flattened before any large-format tile goes down. In the intown townhomes and condos it means working to a building's rules and schedule, protecting elevators and common hallways, and keeping a tight job tight.
